To disable recent documents history:-

  • Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit and enter
  • Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer
  • Create a DWORD value with the key NoRecentDocsHistory and set the value to 1
  • Done, you have just disabled recent documents history.
  • Please logoff or restart your pc to get the recent documents history take effect.

If you are in multi user computer, you can disable recent documents history once for all user. Just follow the steps below to disable recent documents history:-

  • Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit and enter
  • Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer
  • Create a DWORD value with the key NoRecentDocsHistory and set the value to 1
  • Done, you have just disable recent documents history.
  • Please logoff or restart your pc to get the recent documents history take effect.

Important Note: This tutorial teach you how to modify the ms windows registry. Modifying the registry can cause serious problems to your computer. Make sure to back up the registry before you modify it. If problem happen you need to know how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. Use this tutorial at your own risk.
